To mark and celebrate the Sapphire Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen, 65 years as Head of the Commonwealth, the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra and Choir has launched a ground-breaking initiative, the Commonwealth Music Council, whose mission is to curate the music of the Commonwealth. Through its programme Commonwealth Community Heritage, the Commonwealth Music Council will engage with communities in all 52 countries of the Commonwealth to gather current, heritage and traditional music, in all genres, to curate the music heritage of the nations and its peoples. In this way the music of the Commonwealth Nations will be curated into a major new music library which will be freely available to all, for research, performance and educational programmes.
