"Using music as a means of international dialogue, knowing no boundaries."
A crucial part of the Mission of the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra & Choir is to create tangible opportunities for nationals of Commonwealth countries, both within their country of origin and also when they migrate and take up a new national citizenship in a different Commonwealth country.
The Commonwealth Youth Orchestra & Choir is committed to working very closely with the Commonwealth diaspora in all 6 regions of the Commonwealth to support the integration of Commonwealth nationals in a new country, whilst maintaining strong links with the country of Commonwealth heritage.
To support this Pan-Commonwealth Mission, in May 2012, and to mark and celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra & Choir, inspired by The Commonwealth 2012 theme "Connecting Cultures" and in association with the Commonwealth Secretariat's Commonwealth Youth Programme, launched the Commonwealth Music Partnership.
This unique partnership is linking up every choir, orchestra and music school in all the 6 regions and in all 53 countries of the Commonwealth and is providing opportunities for full-funded international platforms, engagement, education and exchange.
